Same-sex marriage is legal in all 50 states, but that hasn't stopped the discrimination of everything surrounding it.

From invitations to cakes to dresses to venues to flowers, everything designed to showcase love has somehow become a war against it.

So, when web design company 303 Creative preemptively sued the state of Colorado (303 Creative LLC v. Elenis) to ensure that they would never have to design a wedding site for a LGBTQ+ couple, it wasn’t surprising.

It was infuriating

When we say,

“it's not your business who someone loves”

we didn't mean for it to be taken quite so literally.

Because to us, that feels a lot like prejudice.

And while we could have just screamed into the void (again), we decided to do something productive instead.

Two photos, one of two women embracing on the beach, the other of two men kissing.

Or anyone, really.

Any fiancé or fiancée of any sexual orientation.

Anyone who’s in love and wants a digital space to declare it.

We don’t believe in bigotry.

Or inequality.

Or bringing the First Amendment into it.

Will this solve the fact that homophobia is everywhere, besmirching our area codes and cities? Unfortunately not. But we hope it helps couples of all genders and sexual orientations understand that there are people in Colorado that proudly stand with them.

Because that’s what a 303 creative should do.

With love,

Hello,
from WIP

We’re WorkInProgress, an independent advertising agency based in the 303, or Boulder, Colorado, to be more specific. As our name implies and our mission states, we believe every company and person should be a work in progress. We also believe that our industry, home state of Colorado, and country should be a work in progress too. And that progress is achieved by taking action. Like building wedding websites when others say no, because it’s the right thing to do.
